As a communications specialist with Stewart Enterprises, the nation’s No. 2 death care services provider, Christian led a 12-page monthly print internal newsletter focused on industry best practices distributed to more than 10,000 employees nationwide.
One of his first achievements was to lead a redesign, working closely with Stewart Enterprises’ design team and beginning with the July 2013 issue, to incorporate new peer-to-peer standing features including marketing and communications tips, an industry-related by-the-number page, a facility spotlight the company’s many properties and create a more unified team, a Q&A with team members throughout the company (nation), and an “around the company” feature by region to showcase what different properties were achieving while providing examples of successful business development efforts.
As managing editor, Christian research and wrote all content while ghostwriting the monthly message from the company’s CEO and its vice president of operations and sales, in addition to working with a translation company for the company’s facilities in Puerto Rico. Because the company was sold to the No. 1 provider in the industry, much of the content transitioned to focus on change management.
In addition to Stewart Enterprises, Christian also managed the weekly internal email newsletter for Phelps Dunbar’s 10 offices with nearly 500 employees; St. Tammany Parish Hospital’s weekly internal email newsletter and bimonthly print newsletter for nearly 5,000 employees; and instituted a biweekly email newsletter at Ericksen Krentel for its nearly 50 employees.
